why pilates?

Pilates focuses on a combination of movement, control and strength training to work muscles and joints in an even holistic way. Originally called Contrology, the movement system was designed by Joseph Pilates and was influenced by a variety of sports including yoga, tai chi, boxing, acrobatics and others.

At Compass Pilates we focus on a dynamic flowing, total body workout, with continuous and controlled movements working you from top to bottom each and every time. Working on the reformer and with props, each class will strengthen the core while toning and lengthening your body’s muscles.

Exercises can be modified to your current level of ability and progressed to challenge you more. Pilates will assist in developing strength, flexibility, co-ordination, muscular endurance, balance and better posture.
